Purpose and Mission

  • Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Our soul purpose as created beings is to bring pleasure to our Creator. That means that we not only seek to accomplish His will, but we also seek to accomplish it in the way He has laid out for us in His Word. We will strive as a church for our beliefs to be biblical, and our efforts evangelistic as we stand firm on the doctrines laid out for us in Scripture.

  • Loving God begins with having a personal relationship with Him. Matthew 22:37-38 says, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.” As we seek to worship and participate in serving Him, we seek to do it with all our heart, soul and mind.

  • Matthew 22:39-40 continues, “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” A loving and caring church family is vital to Main Street Baptist Church. The ultimate expression of our love for our neighbor is bringing as many people as possible to the resurrected Christ. That God sent His Son into the world not to condemn it, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:17). Our mission is to reach out into our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to disciple people that we may grow together in Christ.
