What to Expect

I am brand new, what should I expect when I visit?

No two churches are exactly alike, and you may not know what to expect as you walk through the doors for the first time. Let us remove some of the uncertainty as you plan your first visit to Main Street Baptist Church.

As you arrive Sunday morning, you will be met with a warm, friendly, and Christ centered atmosphere. Our first opportunity is to come to our Sunday School class where we all meet together. It is a more casual time, with different hot drinks and a sweet available as we study God’s Word. Following the Sunday school hour, we will meet upstairs for an uplifting worship service which includes traditional, congregational hymns and old fashioned Bible preaching from our pastor. There will be greeters there to greet you and guide you where to go. They will also be able to help with any questions you may have.

What about my children?

We all meet together downstairs for Sunday School. Right before the preaching in the morning worship service we will dismiss all the young people to go to Jr. Church where a lesson is prepared for them on their level. We will also have the nursery available for anyone who might need it.

What should I wear?

When you visit Main Street Baptist Church, you will see people dressed in a variety of styles, from traditional “Sunday dress” to jeans and casual clothing.  If you like to dress up for church, you will feel comfortable.  If you prefer to dress as you would dress to go out to eat or to the mall, you will feel comfortable in all of our services.

Will my presence be acknowledged?

We understand people do not like to be made a spectacle of. We have greeters at the door that are there to help you if you have any questions. They will hand you a guest card to fill out and drop in the offering plate as it is passed by. The Pastor greets everyone generally from the pulpit and does not single anyone out.

How can I meet the Pastor?

The Pastor tries to get around and greet everyone, but there are times that isn’t possible. If you miss him before or during the service, he will be standing at the back doors speaking to people as they leave.

Are there any cost or fees required?

We have a traditional “pass the plate” offering to provide an opportunity for those who want to give to the needs of our church. By no means do we compel anyone to give.
